Northwest Ontario Wildfires
Airbnb.org is providing free, emergency housing for people who have been displaced by wildfires in Northwestern Ontario.Nearly 200 active wildfires, fueled by extreme heat and high winds, are burning across the region, with 69 currently out of control. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for six communities, including Armstrong and several First Nations, with severe fire damage reported in Collins First Nation. Airbnb.org is working with the Ontario SPCA & Humane Society to help support evacuated residents and their pets during this crisis.Residents impacted by the wildfires can directly apply for housing if their primary home is in a mandatory evacuation zone, and we can verify your identity. You must have an Airbnb account to verify your identity, if you don't have one you can create one here. If you have an evacuation notice or an evacuation warning, you are not currently eligible for emergency housing through Airbnb.org.
If you’d like to help provide free stays to people impacted by the wildfires, you can make a donation to Airbnb.org. 100% of donations go directly to emergency housing. If you’re an Airbnb host, you can sign up to offer discounted stays for impacted residents. Airbnb donates its host service fees to Airbnb.org for these stays and provides hosts with AirCover for each booking.
